Learning Evaluation and Assessment – Undergraduate Law Program, Universitas Tanjungpura

The learning evaluation in the Bachelor of Law Study Programme at Tanjungpura University is designed to ensure the comprehensive achievement of Graduate Learning Outcomes (CPL). The assessment not only measures cognitive aspects but also covers attitudes, general skills, and specific skills in accordance with national higher education standards.

  1. Evaluation Principles

Transparent: Assessment criteria are communicated at the beginning of the semester through the Semester Learning Plan (RPS).

Objective: Assessment is carried out using measurable instruments and clear rubrics.

Accountable: Assessment results are academically accountable.

Fair: Each student is assessed based on their learning achievements, not in comparison with other students.

Achievement-oriented: Focus on mastering legal competencies relevant to the needs of society and the world of work.

  1. Forms of Assessment

Evaluation is carried out continuously through various forms of assessment, including:

Individual and group assignments: essays, case analyses, contract writing, and small research projects.

Discussions: to measure understanding of basic legal concepts and effective communication skills.

Presentations: assess oral legal communication skills, both academic and practical.

Case studies and problem-based learning projects: hone real legal problem-solving skills.

Mid-term exams (UTS) and final exams (UAS): as summative evaluations to assess learning outcomes at the end of the phase.

  1. Assessment Proportion

In general, the evaluation weight consists of:

Class participation and activity discussions: 10-20%

Assignments & presentations: 15-25%

Mid-semester exam: 20-20%

Final semester exam: 25-30%

Case studies or problem-based projects: 30-50%

The proportions may vary according to the characteristics of the course, but always adhere to the RPS.

  1. Grading Standards

Final assessments are expressed in letters (A, B, C, D, E) that reflect the quality of student achievement. These standards are compiled in accordance with the academic guidelines of Tanjungpura University with a quantitative score range of 0–100.

  1. Outcome-Oriented Assessment

Learning evaluation is directed to ensure that students not only master legal theory, but also:

Are able to think critically and analytically in understanding legal phenomena.

Are able to communicate legal ideas academically and professionally.

Are able to apply the law in solving problems in society.

Are able to learn throughout their lives and have a desire to learn regardless of age.

With this integrated evaluation system, the Faculty of Law at Tanjungpura University is committed to producing graduates who are excellent, have integrity, and are globally competitive.
